My name is Zachary Torrey, and I specialize in international politics, political economy, and political risk. I received my Master’s Degree from The London School of Economics in 2017 in the Conflict Studies program (a mix between international relations and government studies). I did my undergrad at Rutgers University, where I majored in Political Science and minored in Asian Studies. I graduated with High Honors and a 3.68 GPA. My studies have focused on American, East Asian, and Middle Eastern politics and that focus will be reflected in the work you’ll find on this site.
I am currently interning with the Hudson Institute’s Center for Political-Military Analysis, helping to research, draft, and edit reports and databases on security politics in Central and East Asia. I have also interned for consulting firms helping businesses adjust to political risk, think tanks studying Middle East conflicts, and the U.S. State Department as a Communications and Economic Assistant.
This is a site for political analysis. The pieces here will focus on how politics affects regional dynamics, economics, and business. These include articles I’ve written for LSE’s political risk blog, some of my academic work, and pieces that I’m working on now. Everything will be sourced and cited, so you’ll know that my analysis is supported by facts and expert opinions. If there is something you’d like me to write about, just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
